One of the classes Joel took in the Fall 2022 semester at SUNY Canton, Joel took a Web Design and Development course as an elective. Joel had previous experience with HTML and CSS as a Coordinator at the Corning Incorporated Global Security Operations Center, working on a program for them. Joel took this class in hopes of strengthening his skills and utilizing them in the workplace. As part of this class, the first project was to create a travel website. After finishing the Zero Day Bookings travel website project as part of the Web Design and Development Course Joel took, the next project was to create a shopping website. To take it a step further, the professor challenged the students to use PHP in their website. Joel took this challenge very seriously and utilized PHP to a great degree in his project. Joel has shown he has the ability to flex his creative muscles in terms of web design. But, he also can be a creative storyteller. As part of a Short Fiction course Joel took in the Spring of 2021, Joel had to create a short story, parodying a story read during the course. Joel was inspired by the story "August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury. He took this inpsriation to write the story "Alexa." "Alexa" parodies Bradbury's work in that it modernizes it to utilize the common home smart device. To read the full story, click on the button below.
For Joel's Survey of Cybersecurity class in Spring 2021, Joel's Final Project was to create a Draft Proposal to the State of New York on Computer Science and Digital FLuency Learning Standards for grades K-12. Joel created a PowerPoint presentation and recorded a video for this project which can be viewed by clicking on the button below.
Joel took a System Analysis and Design course in the Spring or 2022. For this class Joel worked on a group project to make a program and detail a proposal for the program to a business.
